Esther launched her spinning debut at 16 at the glamorous Dolce & Gabbana New York Fashion Week party. Soon came more star-studded events including Frank Stallone’s birthday party, and many others at trend-setting hot spots all over the world. She is currently a resident DJ at trendy The Standard Hotel and funky Macao Trading Company. A chill artist based in Williamsburg, 2017 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Esther Luz, a classically trained pianist from age 4, is currently involved in a wide variety of projects from live jazz, and electronic music performances, to recording sessions, as well as DJing for charity events like “Les Couleurs” at Marble Downtown.
Esther managed clients, as well as taught DJ and music production at The Foxgrove, an electronic music school in the heart of NYC, to students of all walks of life: ranging from Goldman Sachs traders, and Facebook and Spotify engineers, to 10-year-old prodigies of NYC’s prestigious Avenue School. Esther later introduced her own DJ school Open Format based in Union Square and Soho, providing further lessons to previous clients at The Foxgrove and future DJ enthusiasts.
Esther also works with world famous session musicians at notable recording studios throughout the city. One recent noteworthy project included contributions to the latest Psychedelic Furs release. Esther passionately believes that music should be enjoyed by everyone and that DJing is a great way to share this joy.
